available for rent and she caters to sizes 0-28.

Tova Marc’s must-see salon, Couture De Bride, is located just 10
minutes from New York City, in Teaneck, New Jersey. The showroom has an

Kaley Cuoco to celebrate Future of Fashion - Plastic!

This year plastic has become the newest trend in
couture. From Paris to Milan
to New York, plastics are showing
up in a variety of innovative and unusual ways on the runway including funky
jewelry, 10-inch platform shoes and even sequined mini-dresses made from
recycled plastic bottles. Celebrating this up-and-coming trend, Plastics Make
it Possible, sponsored by the plastics industries of the American Chemistry
Council, will present the Gen Art “Fresh Faces in Fashion” Los
Angeles Show on October 29, hosted by actress Kaley Cuoco, star of the popular
CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.

“Plastics and couture might not seem like an obvious fit, but the fact is
that plastics have played a very large role in fashion for decades,” said
Steve Russell, vice president, Plastics Division of the American Chemistry
Council. “Without plastic, we wouldn’t have faux fur, and skinny jeans
wouldn’t have their stretch. Plastics also provide women with comfortable,
smooth support under their favorite looks. We’re thrilled to partner with Gen
Art to highlight how plastics inspire designers’ imaginations and allow artists
to create pieces that are cutting-edge, on trend, chic, affordable, and even
eco-friendly.”

The “Fresh Faces in Fashion” show is the first in a series of events
sponsored by Plastics Make it Possible as part of a new partnership with Gen
Art aimed at showcasing the creative use of plastics in fashion design and the
ways in which up-and-coming designers are applying them to today’s - and
tomorrow’s - trends. Whether it’s polyester, nylon, spandex or Lycra, the
fashion and design world has embraced these plastic materials.

At the show Kaley Cuoco will announce a nationwide fashion design competition
challenging new and established designers to create two dynamic womenswear
looks made from fabrics that include plastic-based fibers such as chiffon,
rayon, nylon and more.

“In my business, I need to stay on top of trends and I love to support
up-and-coming designers wherever possible,” said Kaley Cuoco, who is
currently starring as Penny in the third season of The Big Bang Theory.
“I’m very excited to work with Plastics Make it Possible(SM) as they
challenge designers to create innovative looks using plastics and recycled
plastic fabrics.”

The Gen Art “Fresh Faces in Fashion” show, presented by Plastics Make
it Possible, will take place on opening night of Rock Fashion Week in Los
Angeles, October 29, at the impressive Peterson Automotive Museum. Entering its
15th year, the show traditionally draws over 1,200 attendees and has launched
the careers of leading designers such as: Zac Posen, Rebecca Taylor, Shoshanna
and Milly. A star-studded after-party will take place in a specially designed
plastic-themed lounge after the show.

Vintage by Kate Moss enduring style and elegance

The
most desirable things in life have a precious, enduring beauty that
should be treasured forever. Discover the timeless allure of Vintage by
Kate Moss, the stunning new fragrance from the world’s most famous
supermodel, available from September 2009.

Style icon and vintage connoisseur Kate Moss has filled every facet of
her life with cherished vintage pieces. With a passion for fashion, the
arts and antiquities, she is drawn to objects with an individual style
and charm that transcends generations. Kate’s modern interpretation of
these vintage classics reinvigorates them, giving them a truly
contemporary appeal.

Stylish, sophisticated and deeply feminine, Vintage, a fruity
floriental fragrance, is a unique expression of Kate’s love of vintage
clothes and objects d’art. Just like Kate, the most striking vintage
objects have a unique spirit and beauty that cannot be imitated. Just
like Kate, Vintage has an enduring style and elegance that is destined
to captivate men and women alike.

Kate Moss comments, “I am fascinated by vintage pieces because they not
only have a remarkable beauty but also an innate sense of history - I
love the fact that each object has its own story to tell. And yet
vintage items can be reinvented with a modern twist to make them very
fresh and relevant today. That’s why vintage looks have inspired my
personal style, my work as a fashion designer and, now, my fragrance.”

Rich in sophistication and luxury, Vintage is an exciting blend of
fruity and floriental notes. The fragrance opens with illuminating pink
pepper, white freesia and invigorating mandarin for an initial burst of
spicy freshness. At its heart, smooth heliotrope unites with jasmine
and almond flower to deliver a lush floral bouquet with a timeless
appeal. Warm base notes of tonka bean, vanilla and skin musks add a
depth and refinement whilst also creating a modern feel. The overall
experience is soft, fresh and sensual with more than a hint of Kate’s
iconic individual style.

Vintage’s undeniable elegance is reflected in the delicate,
ultra-feminine bottle that was inspired by the vintage perfumes of the
1920s and 30s. The flacon is finely faceted on the front and sides and
on the striking glass-like cap, creating an enchanting jewel-like
effect. This is enhanced by the exquisite rose-gold collar around the
neck of the bottle, decorated with vintage inspired filigrees. The
front of the fragrance is adorned by the Vintage name and Kate Moss’s
distinctive signature in a classic vintage rose gold.

For the ultimate in boudoir style, the glass is tinted a smoky topaz
and jade colour, creating a look that’s pure vintage. The fragrance
comes beautifully packaged in a folding box that exudes old-time
glamour. The box echoes the bottle design with its timeless rose-gold
filigree pattern, which is printed on metallic paper for an extra
luxurious feel.

Savannah
College of Art and Design President Paula Wallace was presented with
the Fashion Group International 2009 Sustainability Award on behalf of
the university at FGI’s star-studded 26th Annual Night of Stars Gala
Thursday, Oct. 22, in New York City.

The Sustainability Award is in recognition of SCAD’s position as a
leader in sustainable practices, urban renewal and the adaptive reuse
of historic properties. Vogue Editor-at-Large Andre Leon Talley,
recipient of and namesake to SCAD’s annual Andre Leon Talley Lifetime
Achievement Award, presented the Sustainability Award to Wallace.

In his introduction, Talley praised Wallace for leading the conservancy

incredible university called SCAD a wonderland of recycled buildings.”

In accepting the award for the university, Wallace thanked FGI for
recognizing SCAD’s commitment to sustainability. “We at SCAD believe
there’s really no difference between sustainable design and good
design. It’s the same thing. It’s smart. It’s compassionate. It’s
relevant. It’s exalting. And it starts with young artists and designers
like those at SCAD who are learning that responsible design isn’t only
about renewable materials. It’s about renewing ourselves.”

Wallace was escorted down the red carpet by Golden Globe nominee Emmy
Rossum (”The Phantom of the Opera”). Rossum will be honored at the
Savannah Film Festival, which is sponsored by SCAD, Nov. 2 with the
Young Hollywood Award prior to the screening of her film, “Dare.”
Joining Wallace and Rossum at the FGI table were Talley, fashion
designer Angel Sanchez and interior designer Miles Redd, among others.

This is only the second Sustainability Award ever presented by FGI.
“The Savannah College of Art and Design is a remarkable institution
with a sense of vision and a commitment to environmentally conscious
design on so many levels,” said Margaret Hayes, president of Fashion
Group International. “This year’s Night of Stars Sustainability Award
honors their efforts in the development of a green campus, the redesign
of many of their buildings and in making sustainability a part of their
curriculum. We are pleased and proud to recognize SCAD with an award
they so richly deserve.”

Being held to celebrate the upcoming Dubai Fashion Week, the event will see Esmod students joining several talented designers and artists to exhibit their best work.

The event has been designed to not only create a platform for young designers to display their creations on the runway, it also presents an opportunity for them to sell their outfits to the high-profile audience.

Jackie Christie brings sex appeal to LA Catwalk

Fashion designer Jackie Christie shared her wildly successful and well received fashion line with Los Angeles Friday night, during the closing celebrations of Los Angeles Fashion Week at the Fashion Minga show. With a broad range of casual to classic and super sexy pieces, Jackie Christie’s line won the hearts of the Los Angeles audience fashion photographers and retail buyers alike.

Christie has enjoyed designing clothes for most of her life, but debuted her newest line in Los Angeles with her official invitation to join the Fashion Week festivities. Combining her casual line of Colored Girl fashions with her designer couture Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Jackie’s models rocked the catwalk with a formula of wearable sexy separates, dresses, coats and suits that will not soon be forgotten by fashion connoisseurs in the City of Angels.

“I have never felt so elated and so honored to show my line,” states Christie. “The audience reaction sent chills up my spine and I couldn’t believe how many approached me for orders right after the show. With proceeds benefiting the Infinite Love Foundation for student scholarships, I can’t thank Los Angeles enough for the warm reception.”

As a working mother of three and wife of NBA great, Doug Christie, Jackie stepped out as her own woman in Hollywood. Her designs reflect the importance of celebrating the diverse roles of all women with respect to their individual beauty. In addressing the diverse age, shape, size and ethnicity of the modern woman, Jackie maintained fashionable trends and sex appeal in her show. Her models ranged from tall to short, slender to shapely and gained the respect of media, buyers and a new group of perspective customers who found a special connection to her line.

Obama favorites create wardrobe for Chicago 2016 delegation

Chicago 2016 announced that the presentation apparel being worn by the delegation in Copenhagen, Denmark has been designed by three Chicago-based designers, including neckwear designer Lee Allison, venerable clothing brand Hart Schaffner Marx, and renowned designer Maria Pinto. The designers donated their time to work with the bid and have provided the clothing at cost.

It is customary for bid city delegations to wear official apparel to signify teamwork and cohesion.

“On October 2, Chicago will be on an international stage, and our city’s fashion designers will share in the spotlight,” said Patrick G. Ryan, chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016. “Our bid plan celebrates Chicago and we are proud to showcase the talents of the art and design community that thrives here. We appreciate the support of Chicago’s business community and our world-renowned fashion designers.”

The female delegates traveling to Copenhagen will be wearing the designs of Maria Pinto, who has established a name for herself in Chicago and is now well-recognized in the world of fashion. An alumna of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Pinto majored in fine art with a focus in fashion, and later attended both New York’s Parson’s School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Pinto opened the doors to her first boutique in the city’s West Loop neighborhood, drawing celebrity clients like First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.

Another Chicago-based style maker, Lee Allison, has been producing his own line of neckties, dress shirts and accessories since 1995. His distinctive silk ties are cut and sewn by hand in a studio located in one of Chicago’s most fashion-forward neighborhoods. Lee Allison creates the signature designs himself, and has been creating ties for Chicago 2016 since the bid’s beginning.

When asked by Chicago 2016 to help create the outfits for the male delegates going to Copenhagen, Chicago 2016 and Allison teamed up with clothier, Hart Schaffner Marx, another hometown favorite since 1872, to fully fashion the men for this significant event.

No shine look & My Village hit Lakme ramp

Kallol Datta and Rimzim Dadu gave interesting fashion directions for S/S 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week.

Using natural fabrics like kora, cotton, mul, voile, net and crepe,
Kallol Datta moved away from conventional fashion as usual and went for
the No shine look with his signature prints for Spring/Summer 2010 at
Lakme Fashion Week.

Last season it was the stark mannequin motif that appeared on his garments and as jewellery. This time his prints were dragonflies, bees
and Him and Her logo prints which appeared for the “Avant Garde F’ck” collection in geometric forms under his label Kallol Datta 1955. The colours were limited to ecru, pink, jade, black and beige but it was
the construction of the garments that was characteristic of the
designer. Drapes appeared at the hem and at the back, dual tones were
used for front wrap dresses and the silhouette was egg shaped with
fullness at the midriff graduating down or in front.

The 20 pieces was a thinking person’s collection that was starkly
simple and elegant, but with a lot of interesting construction elements
that Kallol is famous for. It is difficult to single out any of the
outfits, since each one will be a great seller with people who want
stylish interesting conversation pieces. But the lopsided dress with
drapes on the side, the junta wrap overlay, the swinging dress and the
winged hem on one side, or the net over solid jade, were part of a
great collection.

Although Kallol Datta has followed his silhouette lines of
last season, there is a bit of reinvention he added, which will make
this collection also a hit with the young trendy dressers for
Spring/Summer 2010.

For her label ‘My Village’ Rimzim Dadu presented a pleasant mix of
matte and shine garments for Spring/ Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion week. The glitter part in her collection was a bit of a surprise from Rimzim
who experimented with hand burnt sequins, metallic cutouts and cage
like dresses - which are a favourite with Rimzim since she had similar
ones last season with intricate cutwork.

Fabrics were sheer or solid – organza, jersey, chiffon in colours
that were neutral crème, yellow, black, grey, red and orange. The
metallic section had covers which were beautifully made and worn over
pleated organza ombre dress, or layered gauze top and short or a sexy
draped jersey dress and an asymmetric pleated jersey dress. The cutout
segment was teamed with draped jersey top and shorts in a grey, a crème
combo of a multi coloured cutout and patch floral top in orange yellow
with chiffon maroon top and the floral cutout organza dress.

An interesting striped nude zippered pleated dress was an elegant
evening option, while the hand burnt sequins quartet of shimmering
dresses and tops had the amazing cage jacket in red with a black top
with gauze lining while another interesting item was an asymmetric
pleated jersey dress with a metallic cutout grid jacket in gold - all
made for dramatic cocktail wear.
